William Pratt Obituary

William J."Bill" Pratt, 68, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday Sep. 1, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Oct. 8, 1949 in Youngstown, OH to William A. and Ruth Dawn (Truhan) Pratt.

On June 1, 1996 in Elkhart he married Ineke G. Sampers-Kantz who survives along with a son William J. (Tiffany) Pratt of Seattle, WA, 2 step-daughters Jacquelyn Taylor of Houston, TX and Megan Williams of South Bend; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 3 brothers Tim (Marcia) Pratt of Elkhart, Doug (Anita) Pratt of Granger and Jeff (Tanya) Pratt of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Hannah Byers.

Bill graduated Elkhart High School in 1968 and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a supplier for the RV industry until his retirement. He was a classic car enthusiast, owning 2 cars and belonging to classic car clubs. He enjoyed being with his beloved dog, Poogi, going to the casinos and playing a friendly game of cards. He was a John Wayne admirer and memorabilia collector. He loved watching old westerns and games shows.

Visitation will be 9 to 1pm Saturday Sep. 8 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will be at 1pm with Pastor Timothy Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
