Betty G. Kaehr was born Aug.8, 1925 in Wakarusa, Indiana, to Ruth Denlinger Layer and Daniel Hershey Denlinger. Betty passed away on August 20, 2023 at Brentwood Assisted Living in Elkhart.
She was married to Dr. Stanley Warner of Elkhart from 1946-1969 and was married to Joseph Kaehr from 1974 until his passing in 2004.
Betty was a loving Mother to her three children, Jacquelyn Warner (Erik Vandemeulebroecke), Eichhoffen, France; Jenni Warner (Doug) Brown, Edina MN; Jeff (Deb) Warner, Elkhart; Betty also enjoyed her relationships with Joe Kaehr's children Tim (Robin) Kaehr, Randy (Lynda) Kaehr, Tony (Deb) Kaehr, and Eric (Wanda) Kaehr.
"Gramee Betty" had four grandchildren, Sara (Tyler) Springer, Goshen; Katie Warner, Elkhart; Sidney Brown, Bloomington, MN; Tate Brown, Lincoln Park, IL; and five great-grandchildren, as well as multiple step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren on the Kaehr side. She is also survived by her dear sister's children, Todd Morton, St. Louis, MO and niece Tiffany (Curt) Schroeder.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joe Kaehr, her sister Sally Jo Denlinger Morton and Sally's husband Don Morton, as well as her stepson Randy Kaehr.
After graduating from Wakarusa High School in 1943, Betty worked various jobs while her husband Stan completed his Optometric degree in Chicago. In 1972 Betty started a career as a Real Estate Agent, first with B & F Realty and later with Cressy & Everett. Betty's passion as a real estate agent resulted in many lasting relationships and awards; she retired at the age of 75.
Betty also enjoyed painting with her friends at the Elkhart Art League, traveling in the United States and Europe, gardening, and tennis.
The family would like to thank everyone at Brentwood Assisted Living in Elkhart for the eight years in their care, as well as Traditions Hospice for her end-of-life care.
She was dearly loved by her family and friends, new and old, who will miss her strong spirit, smiling face and laughter, and especially her former husband Stan, who later in life became a very dear friend.
Visitation be held 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm Thursday, 28, 2023 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where a celebration on Betty's life will be held at 4:30 pm. She will be laid to rest at Olive Cemetery in Elkhart, IN.
