Harriet L. Fouts, 97 of Elkhart passed away on July 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Harriet was born on June 25, 1926 in Hunting County, IN to Earl and Buryel Christman. She married Gerald Fouts on June 25, 1947 in Huntington, IN.
After graduating high school Harriet began her career working in the banking industry. She was the head teller for over 15 years at Michigan National Bank, and 5 ½ years at 1st Bank and Trust in South Bend. She is a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Elkhart. Harriet enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Her favorite time was the time she spent with her family and friends.
Harriet is survived by her children Duane (Barbara) Fouts of Rochester Hills, MI., David (Nancy) Fouts of Elkhart, IN and Carol Sue Curtis of Elkhart, IN; her grandchildren Shaun (Melissa) Curtis, Jamie (Lany) Curtis, Heather Eckford, Derek (Lauren) Fouts, Jennifer Fouts, Aaron Fouts and Michael Fouts and great-grandchildren Sophia Curtis, Jordyn Eckford,Owen Fouts, Wes Fouts and Lilli Fouts. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband Gerald on August 5, 1992 and her brothers Robert Christman, Charles Christman Ray Christman and son-in-law Jack Curtis.
Visitation will be from 4-8 on Friday July 14, 2023 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where a prayer service will be held at 7 pm. Lead by Pastor Tom Miley. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am Saturday, July 15,2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1331 North Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46514 where visitation will be one hour before mass at the church. Fr. Logan Parrish will officiate.
