John Michael Buck, 65 of Simonton Lake in Elkhart, Indiana went home to be with his Savior on Friday, February 16, 2024.
He was born on August 13, 1958 in South Bend, Indiana to Cecil and Betty Buck. He is survived by his son Brannon Buck, his sisters, Valerie (Gary) Yoder, Terri (Phillip) Wilson, the mother of his son, Gwen Buck, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents and sister, Kathleen Buck.
Growing up, he attended Lincoln Elementary/Jr. High School in South Bend until 1972.
His family then moved to Long Lake in Union, Michigan. John graduated from White Pigeon High School in 1977 where he was President of his class. He loved watching and participating in sports. He had lots of leadership as Captain of his Football team. He made the All-Conference team, along with the All Star team in Football. He also enjoyed playing on the Basketball teams, and running Track. He was very athletic.
John graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1982, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.
In his adult life he loved playing and watching Golf. He enjoyed boating and lake activities on Lake Michigan growing up, having fun on Long Lake during his high school years, and then moving to Simonton Lake in Elkhart. He wrote poetry like his mother. John enjoyed music and loved to sing and dance. He enjoyed telling humorous stories! He was devoted to reading and studying his Bible.
The greatest joy of his life was the birth of his son, Brannon John Buck in May, 1995.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 12 pm Sunday March 10, 2024 at Adamsville Road Church of God, 51287 CR 7, Elkhart, IN 46514. Where Pastor Glen McClimans will officiate. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting John’s family.
