John Nelson Helton

John Nelson Helton, 53 of Jones, MI passed away on Thursday December 28, 2023 at Elkhart General Hospital.  John was born on April 14, 1970 in Elkhart, In to Joe Holly and Patsy Helton.

John graduated from Elkhart Central High School, class of 1989 and Illinois Valley Community College, where he played football for the Apache. He worked at B D Custom Manufacturing in Bristol, IN. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame. He loved to spend time with his friends and family especially his daughter Katie.

John is survived daughter Katie Helton of Elkhart, IN; his mom Patsy Helton of McMinnville, TN; sisters Toni (Rusty) Mosby of Punta Gorda, FL and Tina (Angela) Helton of McMinnville, TN; his best friend and brother from another mother James (Tammy) Jackson ; nieces and nephews Brandi Herdman, Brook (Ian) McBain, Jenna (Keith ) Taylor and Anthony (Leah) Kiser and 10 great-nieces and nephews and the mother of his daughter Tanya Cain.

For the Celebration of Life for John please wear something from the  Dallas Cowboy or Notre Dame.  Visitation for John will be from 9-11 am on Tuesday January 2, 2024 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be at 11 am Pastor Bob Lambert will officiate.
