Anna Hubartt

Anna Hubartt, 86 of Elkhart, IN passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. Anna was born on January 6, 1939 to Edward and Anna Marie (Simmons) Brown in Owensboro, KY. She married Larry Paul Hubartt on June 15, 1963 at Trinity Methodist Church in Elkhart, IN., he preceded her in death on September 25, 2023.

Anna is survived by her sons, Derek Hubartt of Elkhart, IN., Darren (Lisa) Hubartt of Bristol, IN and Brian (Lizet) Hubartt of Austin, TX., and her grandson Brayden Mitchell Hubartt of Elkhart, IN. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Shirley Jean Durkin and daughter-in-law Sharon "Sherry" Kay Hubartt.

Ann was raised in Chicago, IL., she attended Anderson High School in LaPorte High School and graduated from Elkhart High School, class of 1956. Ann attended and graduated from Indiana University in 1961 with a degree in education. She received her master's degree from Indiana University in 1964, both degrees at the Bloomington Campus. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority on campus. She received her special education certification in 1979. Anna was an elementary teacher for the Elkhart Community Schools where she began her teaching career in 1961. She taught first grade at both Hawthorne and Beardsley Elementary School. She was a special education teacher at Monger and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. Anna taught second grade at Roosevelt and Beardsley Schools where she retired in 2001. After retirement she was a substitute teacher in the Elkhart Community Schools for over 19 years and retired in 2018.

Anna has been a member of Trinity on Jackson formerly known as Trinity United Methodist Church for over 65 years. Anna enjoyed reading, playing bridge, golfing and gardening. She was a member of the Friendship Garden Club. Her greatest joy in life was her three sons and her grandson.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am - 10:30 am on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be at 10:30am. Pastor Arnell McCoy will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery where Anna will be laid to rest next to her husband, Larry.
