Barbara Jean Fougerousse

Barbara Jean Fougerousse, age 76, of Elkhart, IN passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born May 1, 1949 to Richard and Geraldine Tuttle in Auburn, IN. She married Allan Dale Fougerousse on June 1, 1974 at the United Methodist Church in Waterloo, IN. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2024.

Barbara earned her master’s in education degree and furthered her career as a home economics teacher at Jimtown High School for over 37 years. She enjoyed teaching cooking and sewing to anyone who was interested, and she enjoyed keeping fit and regularly did Pilates. Barbara was an active member at Trinity on Jackson Church in Elkhart, IN. She was a member of the Four Arts Club in Elkhart, IN and several other local art and history community groups. She supported music and sports programs at local schools. She was a member of the Owls Club of Elkhart and many more community groups. She will be sadly missed.

Barbara is survived by her sons Nick (Sandy) Fougerousse of Forest Park, IL and Jason Fougerousse of Muncie, IN; her siblings Bonnie (Gary) Wright of Middlebury, IN and Richard (Karen) Tuttle of Canandaigua, NY and nieces and nephews, John (Melissa) Martin, Jeff (Tina) Martin, Jennie (Micah) Nelson and Bryan Tuttle. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Geraldine Tuttle.

Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Trinity on Jackson Church, 2715 East Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46516 where visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am. A graveside service will be at 2:30pm, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo, IN.
