Barbara J. Koontz

Barbara J. Koontz,90 of 500 South Main Street, Elkhart died October 15, 2008 @ 5:45 P.M. at Hospice House in South Bend, Indiana.

She was born on January 14, 1918 in Topeka, Indiana to Ira & Mabel (Frederick) Sunthimer.
Surviving are a daughter, Irajean (Paul) Rauguth of White Pigeon, Michigan; a step-son, Ronald A. (Jan) Koontz of Elgin, Illinois; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 708 Wayne Street, Middlebury, Indiana with the Reverend Bill Steinke officiating.
Burial will be at
Gracelawn Cemetery, Middlebury at a later date.

Ms. Koontz retired in 1980 from Big Brothers-Big Sisters where she worked as a secretary to the Executive Director.She was a member of the Humane Society Guild; R.S.V.P.; the Senior Center at Y.W.C.A. and a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

She graduated in 1935 from Middlebury High School.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County; Hospice House of South Bend or the church.
