Beverly Kay Johnson

Beverly Kay Johnson, age 91 of Elkhart, IN passed away in the arms of her husband on Saturday, May 29, 2026 at Center for Hospice Care - Ernestine Raclin House in Mishawaka, IN. Bev was born on May 29, 1935 to Cleon and Gladys Fox in South Bend, IN. She married Richard "Dick" Johnson on June 9, 1975 at Redemer Lutheran Church in Elkhart, IN.

Bev graduated from Elkhart High School, class of 1953. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Ellis and Dr. Roger Sheline in Elkhart, IN. Bev enjoyed golfing and was in a ladies golf league at Christian Creek Golf Course until the closed. Bev was a loving wife, mom and grandma. She liked to have a clean home and a beautiful yard, her son Mark planted beautiful flowers around her home for her on Mother's Day. She loved to spend time with her husband Dick, going to Notre Dame sporting events and traveling. They wintered in Naples, Florida for over 28 years. Most of all Bev loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Bev is survived by her husband, of over 50 years Dick Johnson of Elkhart, IN; sons Steven Greenawalt of Elkhart, IN., Mark (Peggy) Greenawalt of Edwardsburg, MI., James Greenawalt of Goshen, IN., Michael (Karla) Johnson of Buchanan, MI and Mark (Joyce) Johnson of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren, Beverly, Stephanie, Jackie, Jessica, Jennifer, Zachary and Nicole and 8 great-grandchildren, her brother Richard Fox of Texas and sister-in-law Pat Johnson of Elkhart, IN. Bev was preceded in death by her parents Cleon and Gladys Fox and her sister Sue.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church, 831 West Marion Street, Elkhart, IN 46514, visitation will be one hour before funeral services. Reverend Emily Trubey-Weller will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, IN.
