Carolyn Ruth Negrete

Carolyn Ruth Negrete, age 70, of Elkhart, IN passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN with her family by her side. Carol was born on August 24, 1956 in Corbin, KY to Robert and Alice Ledford. She married Peter Negrete on January 28, 1977 in Elkhart, IN, he preceded her in death on August 7, 2024.

Carol enjoyed looking for a bargain while shopping, reading a good book, watch her favorite tv shows and playing on her iPad. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed.

Carol is survived by her children Brandon (April) Negrete of Mishawaka, IN and Cassy (Ben) Wood of Elkhart, IN; grandchildren Dawson and Paige; sister Janet (Russ) Mann of Elkhart, IN., brother Donny (Gwen) Ledford of Arkansas and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Alice, and her husband Peter.

Friends may gather with family from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where a celebration of life will be held at 6 pm.
