Catherine E. Hepler

Catherine E. Hepler, 94, of 3109 E. Bristol Street, Elkhart, passed away May 25, 2008 at her residence.

She was born August 29, 1913 in Elkhart to Freedom L. and Louise E. (Berger) Johnson and married Philip E. Hepler on December 5, 1937 in Gary, IN. He died December 12, 1986. Surviving are a nephew, Richard E. (Beverly) Johnson, and 2 nieces, Patricia K. Johnson and Angela Stephenson all of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Stephen P. Hepler on Sept. 28, 1977, 3 brothers, Anthony, Emery H. and John A. Johnson and 2 sisters, Helen E. and Verneal Johnson.

Mrs. Hepler was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a life member since 1964 of the Elkhart General Hospital auxillary, a life member of the DAV# 19 auxillary and member of the Married Women's Club.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where services will be 10:00 am Wednesday. Reverend Tom Thews will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Charity of Donor's choice.
