Charlene Ellis Kreger, age 94 of Osceola, IN passed away one day shy of her 95 birthday at the Center for Hospice Care- Esther’s House in Elkhart, IN. Charlene was born on April 17, 1931 to Charles and Mary Kirby in Cushman, AR. Charlene married Martin A. Kreger on December 24, 1949 in Angola, IN, he preceded her in death on July 10, 1995.
Charlene worked as a server for several years. Once married, Charlene became the epitome of a homemaker raising five children and keeping a spic-n-span clean home. Charlene and Marty traveled all over the world to more than 15 countries and 42 of the 50 states. They loved experiencing life, food, travel, golf, and exploring together. Charlene also enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, sewing and making beautiful jewelry. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family.
Charlene is survived by her children, Linda Alstott of Howell, MI., Cindy Brown of Palm Coast, Fl., Michael Kreger of Flint, MI., Martin Alfred (Joy) Kreger, II of Eau Claire, WI and April (Bryan) Weisser of Osceola, IN ; grandchildren Karie Shull, Keyle Cox, Amanda (Andrew) Reinert, Kimberly Brown, Megan Kreger, Paige Kreger, Bonnie (Scott) Zuckerman, Holly Kreger and Alivia Weisser; 9 great-grandchildren. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary Kirby, husband Martin Kreger, sisters, Dumper, Bessie, Penny, Wilma, Margaret, Alma, only brother, Bill and 2 miscarriages, her son-in-law James Brown, and her grandson Kristopher Alstott.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be held at 3pm. She will be laid to rest next to husband at All Faiths Cemetery in Tucson, AZ. Memorial donations in memory of Charlene may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 5091 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, in 46545 www.cfhcare.org Online condolences may be made to her family at www.stemmlawson.com
