With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Cora Jane Hambrick, who left this world surrounded by the love of her family on May 25, 2026, at the age of 94. She was of Elkhart, IN, and passed away at Center for Hospice Care - Esther's House in Elkhart, IN. She was born on January 27, 1932 in Scottsboro, AL to Cecil and Effie Venable. Her husband, Ira Hambrick, whom she married on October 28, 1950 in Scottsboro, AL., preceded her in death on June 3, 2007.
Cora was the definition of strength, kindness, and unconditional love. She worked hard her entire life, never afraid of long days or putting others before herself. Cora worked as a seamstress for Focal Point Interiors for 35 years before joining Northwest Interiors, where she retired after eight years of service. No matter how tired she may have been, she always made sure the people she loved were cared for. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them.
She found joy in life's simple and beautiful things. She loved gardening and could often be found tending to her flowers and plants with patience and care, creating beauty wherever she went. She also loved sewing, a talent she carried proudly for many years, stitching together not only fabric, but memories her family will cherish forever. Everything she made was done with love.
To know Cora was to know warmth, honesty, and comfort. She had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for, whether through a home-cooked meal, a conversation at the kitchen table, or simply her quiet presence. Her love and devotion to her family will leave a lasting mark on all who knew and loved her. Cora enjoyed growing beautiful flowers around her home and a vegetable garden to harvest in the fall.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Glenda (Chris) Losin of Elkhart, IN; granddaughters Amy (Ray) Otis and Amanda (Brian) Sanders, both of Elkhart, IN; and grandchildren Logan Nunez of Elkhart, Indiana, Haley (Thomas) Wojciechowski of Osceola, Indiana, Roy (Caleigh) Thomas of Elkhart, Indiana, Raevon, Corrina, Ellasandria, and Amarai. As well as Great- Great Grandchildren Shiloh, Ezra, And August They will continue to honor her memory and carry her lessons, traditions, and love with them every day.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil V. Hambrick; infant daughter, Betty Hambrick; her parents, Ira and Effie Venable; and nine siblings Ellie Venable, Ruby Thompson, Pearl Light, MayLou Baugh, Arvada Stultz, Willie Grace Venable, Leonard Venable, Paul Venable, and A.W. Venable.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing her legacy lives on in the family she cherished so deeply and in the countless memories she gave throughout her life.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."
