Cynthia Strange

Cynthia L. Strange of Elkhart, IN passed away on Saturday May 16th, 2026, in Elkhart, IN. Cindy was born on April 5, 1956 to Richard and Marilyn Deckert in Erie, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1974.

Cindy was a devoted loving mother and grandma. A fighter and a survivor, she beat cancer multiple times, all while still working at Walgreens as a store manager for many years, and later, CVS until her retirement. She was not happy about retiring. Cindy loved playing cards with family.

She is survived by her son Daniel (Anlyssa) Strange of Elkhart, IN, grandchildren; Cyrus Strange, Dean Strange, and Felicity Strange, sister, Kathy (Doug) Davis of Elkhart, IN, brothers; Steve Deckert of Elkhart, IN and Mathew (Mandy) Kowalczyk of Queensland Australia, nephews; Jeremey Davis of Marietta, CA, Justin (Courtney) Davis of Cassopolis, MI and Brandon (Nicole) Deckert of Middlebury, IN, niece Stephanie Cheshire of Dotham, AL; and 5 great nieces and a great nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Deckert and Marilyn Kowalczyk and stepfather, Alex Kowalczyk.

We find comfort in knowing that Cindy’s legacy lives on through all of us who loved her and her biggest lesson she gave us is to never stop fighting.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart, IN. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm. Online condolences may be left for Cindy at www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com
