Debbie L. Cox, 59 of Elkhart, passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 in her home. She was born on June 23, 1959 in Elkhart to Marvin and Mary Rose (Heiliger) Runnels. She married Douglas W. Cox on Sept. 8, 1990. He survives along with her son, Stephen J. (Marie) Gresso II of Mishawaka, her daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Stevenson of Elkhart, 2 step-sons, Shawn D. (Alison) Cox of Valparaiso and Nathan T. (Elizabeth) Cox of Mishawaka; 7 grandchildren and a sister, Mary-Jo (Samuel) Blosser of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Runnels and her mother, Mary Rose Spencer and an infant sister.

Debbie was an assistant manager for Hardee’s Restaurant and also had worked for Osco Drug Store and Subway. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Michiana H.O.G.

Visitation for Debbie will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, Jan. 3rd at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home and an hour prior to the funeral at 11 am Friday, Jan. 4th. Pastor Carl Henry will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Great Lakes Hospice. Online condolences may be shared with www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com.
