Dennis L. Loucks

Dennis “Denny” Loucks, 65, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2026. Born on June 27, 1960, to Virgil and Marilyn (Kime) Loucks, Denny spent his life helping others, making connections wherever he went, and lending a hand whenever it was needed. In 1984, he married Donna Dale, and together they welcomed two children, Meredith “MJ” and Evan.

Denny’s greatest passion was serving with the Concord Fire Department, where he dedicated more than 25 years as a volunteer firefighter. Over the years, he served in numerous roles and expanded his training into EMS and paramedicine. Whether responding to an emergency, helping a neighbor, or supporting a friend, caring for others was simply part of who he was.

He never met a stranger. Denny had a gift for conversation and could strike up a discussion with just about anyone. Throughout a career that included manufacturer and distributor sales, retail, and later selling and specifying ambulances and fire trucks, he built lasting relationships wherever he went and was known for his kindness, generosity, and big heart.

Outside of work, Denny loved classic cars, woodworking, sports, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed restoring cars and sharing that passion with his son, Evan. Next to being Dad, his favorite title was Grandpa. His granddaughters, Emerson and Eleanor, were the light of his life, and he treasured every opportunity to watch them play, grow, and discover the world around them.

Denny is survived by his children, MJ (Nick) Wilson and Evan (Amy) Loucks; grandchildren Emerson Jane and Eleanor Jean; sisters Leann (Dennis “Dutch”) Hahaj and Mary Outlaw; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Marilyn Loucks.

Visitation will be held from 4:00–8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, Indiana 46514. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
