Dennis L. Mann, age 82, of Elkhart passed away Saturday May 16, 2026 at Greenleaf Health Campus, Elkhart. He was born August 5, 1943 to Wyman and Marjorie Mann in Elkhart, IN. On May 3, 1969 he married Kathy Ann Miller who preceded him in death on January 5, 2019.
Dennis graduated from Elkhart High School, class of 1961. He honorable served his country in the United States Navy from 1961-1964. He was a firefighter for the City of Elkhart for over 37 ½ years. When he retired, he was the chief of the Arsen Bureau. After retiring as a firefighter, he worked for Elkhart City as the Building Commissioner. Dennis was a member of the Indiana Association of Arson Investigators. He enjoyed spending quiet time fishing at his wife, Kathy’s family lake cottage. Most of all Dennis loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his sons: Dennis (Machell) Mann II and Brian L. (Jennifer) Mann; grandchildren: Kevin Mann, Mark(Megan) Huffman, Zachary Mann, Brock Mann, Alexis Mann, Jillian Mann, Logan Mann and Ethan Mann; great- grandchildren Kingsley Mann, Kayson Mann and Mason Huffman; brother Garon “Gary” Mann of Elkhart, IN and brother-in-law John Miller of Elkhart, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents Wyman and Marjorie Mann, wife Kathy, brothers David Mann and Raymond “Ray” Mann and grandsons Ryan Michael and Connor Matthew Mann and sister-in-law Judy Miller.
Visitation for Dennis will be from 2-4- and 6-8 on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514, where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 with visitation one hour before the funeral. Rev. Gary Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery next to his wife Kathy, with military honors. Memorials may be given to Wellfield Botanic Gardens, 1011 North Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46514. Online condolences may be made to Dennis’ family at www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com
