Donald B. Harris

Donald B. Harris, 83 of Elkhart, passed away Sunday Aug. 26, 2012 at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born August 10, 1929 in Buchanan, MI to Donald and Leona (Stout) Harris and married Pat A. Kirts on Nov . 27, 1954 in Angola. She survives with 4 sons, Chris (Cathy) Harris of Edwardsburg, MI, Mitch Harris of Bristol, Mark W. (Sherri) Harris of Elkhart and Mike (Shannon) Harris of Vandalia, MI; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Harris, a brother, William Harris and a sister, Jane Box.

Don served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war and retired after 44 years with New York Central Railroad, PennCentral and Conrail as a supervisor and machinist. He attended Faith United Methodist Church and was a member of Kane Masonic Lodge #183 and Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. He enjoyed Antiquing,gardening and loved his dogs.

Cremation will take place and a Masonic Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to Elkhart County Humane Society or Indiana Masonic Home c/o Kane Masonic Lodge.
