Donald G. Meiner

Donald George Meiner, 78, of Elkhart formerly of Traverse City, MI, passed away Monday, October 19, 2026 at the home of his son in Elkhart. He was born May 16, 1948 in Midlothian, IL to Arthur and Catherine Meiner. On January 18, 1992 he married Roberta Jean Ferrel who preceded him in death on January 12, 2026 after 34 years of marriage.

From 1990 to 2019, Donald was a pastor for the Nazarene Church in several cities, including; Lomax, IL, Muncie, IN, Goshen, IN, New Paris, IN and West Branch, MI. In addition to his time as a pastor, he worked as a Chaplin from Goshen Hospital and Greencroft Assisted Living in Goshen, IN. Donald loved University of Michigan football, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and Savannah Banana’s baseball. He loved photography, gardening and camping. He enjoyed going to listen to live music but most of all he loved being with his family. He will be sadly missed.

Surviving are his children; Scott (Megan Ramirez) Meiner of Elkhart, IN, Jeffrey (Lauri) Ferrel of Rock Island, IL, Johnnie (Brenda) Ferrel of Donahue, IA, Al (Trish) Ferrel of Davenport, IA, and Karie (Ed) Moss of Davenport, IA, grandchildren, Matthew (Tessa) Meiner, Meghan (Martin) Ward, McKenzie (Devon) VanHouzen, Matt (Melissa) Ferrel, Ashley (Nate) Burmeister, Megan (Syngen) Case, Jessica Arnold, Jon Ferrel and Raven Ferrel, great-grandchildren; Michael McCoy, Kaylynn Shorter, Aydon Burmeister, Haylaya Arnold, Ryker Arnold, Sophie Arnold, Paige Arnold, Kole Case, Ariana Case, Kerah Case, Emma Case, Ava Case, Jett Ferrel, Beau Ferrel, Elis Meiner, Carver Meiner, Declan Meiner and Malakhi Meiner and brother, Alan (Linda) Meiner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Catherine Meiner, wife Roberta, siblings; Robert Meiner and Darlene Coennen, and grandson, Justin Arnold.

Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm, Friday, October 23, 2026 at Grace Bible Church, 1700 Edwardsburg Ave., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be at 1pm with Pastor Kyle Grant. Donald will be buried with Roberta at Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, IA at a later date.
