Doris A. Kirchner

Doris A. Kirchner, 89, of Elkhart passed away Thursday evening at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born October 6, 1927 in Goshen to Jesse M. and Elsie M. (Bleile) Albin. She married Theodore H. Kirchner on Sept. 3, 1949 in Goshen. He died on Oct. 8, 2009. Surviving are a son, Bruce (Kathy) Kirchner of Cape Coral, FL; a daughter, Linda (Jon) Titus of Elkhart; 2 grandchildren, Bryan Kirchner and Marla (Trevor) Varvel; 2 great-grandchildren, Nathan and Olivia Varvel and a sister, Delores (Larry) Pletcher of Nappanee. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Devon and Vearle Albin.

Doris graduated from Wakarusa High School in 1945 and retired after 28 years from Mile’s Credit Union (INOVA) as supervisor of accounts. She loved traveling and going out to eat. She even rode in a hot air balloon.

Family and friends may visit from 6-8 pm Monday, June 19th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held at 3 pm Tuesday, June 20th. Her sister, Aunt Dolly will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
