Erika Balodis, 99, of Elkhart died at 8:45 pm on July 5th, 2010 at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 13, 1910 in Riga, Latvia to Augusts & Katrine (Jurgens) Pampovs. She married Voldemars Balodis on June 13, 1929 in Latvia. He died February 14, 1983. She is survived by a nephew Ansis Rozitis of Phoenix, AZ and a niece Mara Rozitis of Elkhart.
She retired from Elkhart General Hospital where she worked as a nurse’s aide, and was a member of Latvia Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, MI.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart with funeral services Saturday at 11:00 am. Pastor Robert Franklin will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Visit www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com.
