Georgia V. Housour

Georgia V. Housour, 89, of Goshen, Indiana, passed away August 19, 2008 at Goshen General Hospital.

She was born August 26, 1918 in Elkhart to Samuel and Bertha (Tavernier) Glick and married Maurice Jenkins. He died in 1973. She then married Fred Housour on October 11, 1974. He survives with a son, Terry (Martha) Jenkins of Tulsa, OK,; a daughter, Cheryl Straw of Texas; a step-daughter, Judy Robison of Elkhart; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Housour was a homemaker and had worked for J.C. Penny Co. years ago when it was on Main Street in Elkhart. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Elkhart, and was a member of the Maple Crest Country Club in Goshen. She was a avid golfer, played bridge and loved cats.

Friends may call from 5-8 pm Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:00 am Friday. Reverend Larry Kurtz of Faith United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Prairie Street Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
