Hawke Anthony Faloon

September 25, 2018 — May 2, 2024

Osceola, IN

Hawke Anthony Faloon (Hawkie), 5, of Osceola, IN passed away on Thursday May 2, 2024 at his home in the arms of his family, after a short lifetime of courageously battling the effects of a rare genetic mutation, ATP6V1A Encephalopathy. Born September 25, 2018 to Jon and Brynne Faloon in Ft. Wayne, IN, he was a true warrior, joy, and teacher from the start.

Hawke is survived by his parents Jon and Brynne Faloon; his brothers, Ezra Daniel (7) and Vincent Joel(6 months); grandparents, Joel & Dané Bourdon and Michael & AnneMarie Faloon of Elkhart; great-grandparents Patsy Logan, Darlene Bourdon, & Lenore Kurth of Elkhart; aunts and uncles, Patrick & Jennifer Faloon of St. Louis, MO., Ashley Faloon of Elkhart, Angela & Michael Hahn of Elkhart, Logan & Saige Bourdon of Elkhart. and Tyler & Kelsey Bourdon of Elkhart, and his nurse and second mom, Leah Butler (Miss Leah) of Elkhart; his cousins Max, Mia, Molly, Caiohme, Harlow, Theodore and Henry. Hawke was preceded in death by his great-grandpa and namesake Dale Anthony Bourdon, who loved Hawke deeply.

Hawke may never have spoken a word in his short life, but his voice was a thunderous and beautiful one.  He taught those who loved him to look beyond words, to listen to emotions and tiny nuances of love and joy.  He taught his family the true blessings the disabled community brings, and how to advocate for those that cannot speak for themselves.  His laugh was pure magic, and his happy “weeble wobble” with his gorgeous hair flying around warmed the hearts of anyone who was lucky enough to see it.  He was a true boy with a cynical sense of humor, known to laugh when someone was crying, or voices were raised.  His most favorite activity was watching old Disney movies with his best friend, Miss Leah, and laughing hysterically with her as the Red Queen yelled “OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!” in the old Alice in Wonderland.

Hawke loved the outdoors, feeling the wind on his skin, the birds chirping, and children playing.  He spent nights snuggling and quietly “talking” to those he loved most.  Every nurse, doctor, and therapist that met him along the way would admire his pure beauty, long eyelashes, gorgeous grey eyes, and fabulous big hair.  His cousins all adored him and would lovingly include their “Hawkie” in any activity they could.  His big brother Ezra kissed him goodnight and comforted him on hard days by petting his hair and calmly reassuring him, and his baby brother Vinny loved to smile and touch Hawkes hands.

He may have led a short life, but it was a full one, overflowing with love and adoration from his family and his “village".  He will be so missed, but those that loved him will take the blessings and teachings Hawke gave them and continue spreading love and awareness in his name for the rest of their lives.  Disability is not inability, disability is not weakness, disability is not scary.  Disability is a teacher for our hearts and minds of the humanity we all carry.  It is a lesson in love, acceptance, and equity. We love and miss you Hawkie.  And we will do great things in your honor.  Thank you for blessing us with your short but oh so mighty life. We will walk with you in our dreams.
