Helen B. Koller, 98 of Elkhart, IN passed away on Friday January 26, 2024 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on December 24, 1925 to David and Anna M. Wade in Elkhart, IN. Helen married Virgil Koller on Valentines Day 1957 in Elkhart, IN. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2007.
Helen graduated from Elkhart High School class of 1943. She attended Fort Wayne Bible Institute now Taylor University. Helen worked alongside her husband for many years at Koller Riverview Orchard and Cider Mill in Bristol. Helen was a member of Zion Missionary Church, where she spent her life working with children. She volunteered with Child Evangelism, AWANA and Pioneer Girls programs and taught Sunday school. She worked at Oaklawn for over 8 years, CTS for over 10 years and retired after 18 years from the YWCA. She was a member of Farm Bureau INC., Jefferson Extension Homemakers Club, Red Hat Society and J.O.Y. She volunteered for C.A.R.E.S. program and for E.A.S.E. program thru the YWCA. She went on several missions’ trips to Sun Valley Indian School in Holbrook, AZ. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing games, golfing, listening to music and making crafts (many still left unfinished.) Helen loved to spend time with friends and especially her family.
Helen is survived by her children Mark Koller of Elkhart, IN., Diana (Tom) Tormanen of Shipshewana, IN. and Eric Koller of Indianapolis, IN. 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents David and Anna Wade, husband Virgil Koller, sons Tony Serafino and Gary Koller, sister Ruth “Arlene” Elsasser and brothers Dale Wade, Walter Wade and Raymond Wade.
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday February 4, 2024 at Zion Missionary Church, 1135 East Hively Ave., Elkhart, IN 46517, where funeral services will be at 11am on Monday February 5, 2024 with visitation from 10-11am. Entombment will follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart, IN. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the Koller family. Memorial donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Virgil Koller Family Scholarship fund c/o Taylor University, 1846 South Main Street, Upland, IN 46989.
