Herbert Hammond

Herbert R. Hammond, 55, of Goshen, IN passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at his home in Goshen, IN. Herbert was born on July 6, 1970 in Somerset, KY to Ray Edward and Georgia Hammond. Herb married Becky Hall and to this union three wonderful sons were born and later married Makayla Hammond.

Herb attended Goshen High School and spent his career working in production at T&M Rubber. He was a man of many interests who enjoyed spending his free time fishing, playing cards, and collecting guns. Herb had a kind spot in his heart for children and will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Herb is survived by his children, Richmond Hammond of Indiana, Dakota Hammond of Ft. Wayne, IN and Noah Hammond of Ft. Wayne, IN., his grandchildren, Cian, Christian and Emma step-children Tiffany Yoder, Lexie Pritt, Alisha (Sam) Samson., Aaron Pritt, Kenneth Pritt, and Jachsen Pritt, step-grandchildren, Dean, Nyny, Daisey and Callum; his siblings Donna (Joe) Dennis of Goshen, IN., Edward Hammond Jr. of Goshen, IN., Melissa Hammond of Kingman, AZ, Ruben Hammond, IN Herbert was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Hammond and his mom, Georgia and step-father, Jerry Purdue, his brother, Casey Hammond and step-grandson Day'Ven Yoder.

Visitation will be from 1-3pm on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be at 3pm. Pastor Robert Clements will officiate. In keeping with Herb's wishes he will be laid to rest next to his brother Casey at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery in Goshen, IN at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Herb may be made to the funeral home to purchase a headstone for at the cemetery or West Goshen Church, 1200 Berkey Ave., Goshen, IN., 46526 or to the Elkhart Conservation Club, 55515 Riviera Drive, Elkhart, IN 46514.
