James D. Randall, Jr., 65, of Elkhart, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Veterans Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born July 13, 1946 in Goshen to James D. and Alcie Rowena (Ward) Randall, Sr., who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son Matthew James Randall; granddaughter Lindsey Randall; sister Janet Randall; and brother John Randall, all of Elkhart, and also his beloved dog Trixie.
James graduated from Elkhart High School in 1964 and was a machinist and retired from Pulliam Enterprises, Inc., Mishawaka. A member of First Brethren Church, he taught Sunday school for 30 years. He umpired baseball games for various leagues in the area, taught swimming at the YMCA and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the 1 pm service on Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. A military service will follow provided by the US Air Force and DAV #19. Entombment will be at the Veterans Tower at Prairie Street Cemetery at a later date.
