James Louis Reed, 90, of Bristol died early morning of March 2, 2021 at his home.

He was born July 3, 1930 to Hubert and Helen Reed (Dunlap-Goshen, IN). He was married to Eileen B. Butler in 1950and she died in 1969. He then married Mary Lou Goolsby in 1970. He lost his battle with heart surgery complications suffered for fourteen years.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Reed, Bristol; daughter Judy Books, Goshen; son, James E. (Debbie) Reed, Elkhart; and step-son, Curt A. Goolsby, Elkhart, 5 grandchildren: Jason Reed, Elkhart, Jill (Matt) Frey, Middlebury, Deana (Lon) Roth, New Paris, Kristy Books, Goshen and Jon Goolsby, 8 great-grandchildren: Alexis Reed Downie, Hannah Reed, Garrett Roth, Gavin Roth, Reed Frey, Addison Goolsby, Nathan Goolsby, and McKoy Goolsby and his siblings, Paul of Geneva, IL, David of Kismet, KS and Esther Cook of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie Sekora in 1991 and his first wife, Eileen.

Jim was a graduate of Concord High School, Class of 1948. He enjoyed a once-a-month breakfast with his high school classmates for many years until COVID 19 curtailed that activity. He worked as maintenance foreman at CTS Corporation for nearly 40 years retiring in 1989. He raised and raced harness horses for nearly 60 years. He attended Dunlap United Methodist Church in his early years and the Bristol United Methodist Church in his latter years.

Memorial services will be held at a later date with burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
