Jane M. Clanton

Jane Marie Clanton, 84, of Bristol, Indiana, passed away on Friday May 17, 2024 in Elkhart, Indiana after being ill for several months.  She was born on November 26, 1939 in Goshen, Indiana to George R. Jr. and Florence Gorsuch.  She married Aaron J. Clanton on June 26, 1960 in Dunlap, IN.  He preceded her in death on June 10, 1991.

Jane is survived by her children: Ella L. Cripe of Middlebury, IN,  Russell A. Clanton of Middlebury, IN and Jerry W. (Marie) Clanton of Bristol, IN; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and her siblings: George (Brenda) Gorsuch of North Carolina, Richard (Mona) Gorsuch of Elkhart, IN and Christine (Rick) Henry of Eustis, FL.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Martha Henry and Georgia VanGilder.

Jane graduated from Concord High School in 1958.  She was a member of Bristol United  Methodist Church and attended Crossroads Community Church.  She was a member of the VFW.  She worked for Elkhart Community School Corporation in the cafeteria at West Side Middle School for 6 years, then worked at Nickels Lumber Co. for 5 years.

Jane was an amazing cook and she loved her grandchildren very much.

A Memorial Service in her honor will be announced at a later date at Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol, Indiana.
