John P. Branson

John P. Branson, 50 of Elkhart, passed away in his home unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018.

He was born July 7, 1968 in Elkhart to Paul E. and Phyllis (Cripe) Branson. He married Amy J. Tracy on Jan. 20, 1990 in Elkhart. She survives with a daughter, Olivia Branson of Niles, MI, a son, Drew Branson of Elkhart, a grandson, Owen Branson of Niles, MI; 4 siblings, Paula (Travis) Wise of Portage, IN, David Branson of Elkhart, Diana Monroe of Greenwood, IN, Laura (Michael) Martin of Mint Hill, NC and his mother, Phyllis Branson of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by an infant son and his father, Paul Branson.

John was a Ready-Mix driver for Ozinga for 20 years. He was a union steward for several years for the Teamsters. He enjoyed watching Purdue football and basketball and spending time with his children and his grandson, Owen, and his family and friends. John was very well loved and never met a stranger.

Visitation for John will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday, Oct. 31st at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home and from noon to 1 pm Thursday, Nov. 1st at Faith United Methodist Church, where his funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Pastor John Hogsett will officiate. Burial will follow at Carleton Cemetery.
