John Soptich

John David Soptich, 62, of Elkhart, IN passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 29, 1963 to the late Joseph Edward Soptich Jr. and Rachel Soptich Osborn in Elkhart, IN.

John was a graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School, where he was awarded the Tim Bringle Memorial Award in 1982, an honor presented annually to the top high school male athlete in Elkhart Community Schools. He went on to graduate from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed playing disc golf and Texas Hold'em in his free time.

John is survived by his mother, Rachel Soptich Osborn, children; Christopher (Katie) Soptich of Niles, MI, Alexander (Kayla) Soptich of Granger, IN, and Mary (Omar) Majeed of Elkhart, IN, grandchildren; Evelyn, Sterling, Penelope, Abigail, and Benjamin, as well as his brother, Charles Edward Soptich of Elkhart, IN.

A memorial Mass will be held at 5:30pm Thursday March 12, 2026 at St. Thomas the Apostle catholic Church, 1331 N. Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46514
