Judith Ann Hughes

Judith Ann Hughes, age 81, of Cassopolis, MI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Elkhart, IN. She was born on February 3, 1945 in Allegan, MI to Gerald and Orrie Dean. On April 22, 1989, she married Jack Hughes at Bethel United Methodist Church in Elkhart, IN.

Judy worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Hess Financial Services. In her younger years she enjoyed square dancing with her husband, Jack, and teaching line dancing. She loved working on word puzzles and getting wrapped up in a good book, but she was happiest spending time with her family and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. She will be sadly missed.

Judy is survived by her husband, Jack Hughes of Cassopolis, MI, daughter, Kelly Klein of Edwardsburg, MI, step-daughter, Donalee Attardo of Bloomington, IN, grandchildren; Ethan (Katie Seago) Klein of Edwardsburg, MI, Emily (Jimmy) Sutherland of Loveland, OH, Gaia (Tyler) White of Bloomington, IN and Erin Hughes of Osceola, IN, four great-grandchildren, and sisters; Nancy Stone of Bloomingdale, MI and Esther Paulson of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; Gerald and Orrie Dean and brother, Richard Dean.

A visitation will be held at 1:00pm with a celebration of life taking place at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at the Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN, 46514.
