Lula L. Shalley

Lula L. Shalley, 77 of Elkhart, passed away March 9, 2015 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1937 in Elkhart to Howard H. and Violet L. (Coens) Sargent.

Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Gattman of San Antonio, TX; 2 sons, Thomas L. (Debbie) Shalley and Kevin T. Shalley both of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren , a brother, Charles L. Sargent of Michigan, and a dear friend, Bob Symonds. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Thomas H. Shalley, a son, Timothy Shalley, step-daughter, Vicki Schultz, granddaughter, Marlys, great-grandson, Fred Jr. and a brother, Howard E. Sargent.

Lula worked as a Home Health Aid for the Elkhart County Health Dept. for a year and a half and in Home Health for Elkhart General Hospital for 14 years. She attended Sunnyside Mennonite Church and was an avid gardener.

Visitation will be an hour and a half prior to the 1 pm funeral service on Thursday, March 12th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Pastor Stan Hoover will officiate. Burial will follow at Little Pine Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Church or Alzheimers Association.
