Marian M. Brown

Marian Mumford Brown, 89, of Elkhart, IN passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026. She was born in the family home in Tulsa, OK with the assistance of her Father and Maternal Grandmother, Delilah Catherine Croft. Her deceased parents were Clarence S. and Bertha M. Mumford. She attended The University of Tulsa, Tulsa, OK where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. In 1987, she married Robert C. Brown in Elkhart, IN. He preceded her death.

Marian is survived by her son, David (Becky) Matthews, Tucson, AZ; and two daughters: Karen (Pat) Terrell, Indianapolis, IN and Kimberly (Mike) Chramtchenko, Aylmer, Quebec, Canada, two step-grandsons, Ryan & Ben Chramtchenko; four nephews, and her Goddaughter, Rylee Lynn Hornor, Elkhart, IN. She was predeceased by her brothers, Scott & Donald Mumford in 2016, and sisters-in-law Betty Mumford and Patricia Mumford.

Marian loved the Lord and was a member of Trinity on Jackson since 1982. She was active in various ministries of the church and a mentor at Hawthorne School, Trinity Lutheran School and Pinewood Elementary School. She also volunteered at several nonprofit agencies.

Friends may call from 11am-12pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where a funeral service will be held at 12pm. Pastor Karen Koelsch from Trinity on Jackson Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN.
