Mary Lizette McLane

Mary Lizette McLane, 79, of Elkhart, passed away Monday December 18, 2023 at Brickyard Healthcare, Elkhart. She was born December 26, 1943 in Elkhart to Joseph F. and Mary Jo Tulley.  On March 14, 1970 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Elkhart, IN she married James L. McLane.

Lizette graduated from Elkhart High School, Class of 1961 and attended Indiana State University and Elkhart School of Business. She worked for Elkhart General Hospital, University of Notre Dame, Silvercote Products, Inc of Elkhart, and Mishawaka-Penn Public library, Bittersweet Branch in the Children’s Room before becoming a homemaker in 1996.

She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, past member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, past member of the Elkhart Symphony Orchestra, the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, past member of the Legion of Mary of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South Bend, and past member of the Legion of Mary of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She also volunteered at Moran Elementary School in Osceola, Marion High School in Mishawaka, Queen of Peace Catholic Church and St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, James, daughter Amy H. (Luis Bailleress) McLane-Bailleress of Mishawaka, IN, a sister Lisbeth A. (Peter) Spiteri of South Bend, IN granddaughters Ilse Balleress and Mirelle Bailleress both of Chicago, IL and nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Lizette will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday December 26, 2023 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where the rosary will be prayed at 4pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am on Wednesday December 27, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46514 with visitation will be one hour before mass at church. Fr. Logan Parrish will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
