Michael Gregory Campbell, 65, of Elkhart, IN passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on August 20, 1960 in Trenton, NJ to Will and Frances (Jackson) Campbell.

Michael graduated from Kennedy High School in Willingboro, NJ. Upon graduation, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He traveled the world, enjoying various ports of call, including the Philippines, Thailand and Australia. Michael met his life partner, Debra Smith, while stationed in San Diego, CA.

Mike was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan. His love for sports ran deep, and he spent his life playing football, basketball, and baseball from his earliest years through adulthood. An avid film buff, he loved watching movies of all kinds, but action and comedy films were his favorite. Mike was someone that loved to make people laugh. He always joked around, finding ways to brighten up your day. He made friends easily and was liked by all.

Mike was strong, a true fighter. He showed his family how to hold on to strength through every challenge. Mike adored his grandkids; he could hardly go a day without seeing them. Nothing made him happier than spending time with them and watching their smiles light up a room. He loved his family with his whole heart, and even now, that love is still felt. He truly gave everything he had to the people he loved. Michael will be loved and missed by his entire family. We were all blessed to know him.

Michael leaves behind his partner of nearly 45 years, Debra DeMetz Smith and one son, Dion Campbell, along with Dion’s wife Neha and daughter Amaya. Michael’s son, Dante, preceded him in death, but left behind a wonderful son, Dimitri, whom Michael loved dearly. His nephew, Tyrone Campbell survives and held a special place in Mike’s heart. He also leaves behind his sister, Wanda Lynn Campbell and brother, Kerns Dwayne Campbell as well as his nephew, Kyle Campbell and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Will Campbell.
