Michael Allen Hoover, "Hoove,” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Mike was born on April 13, 1957 to Maynard L. Hoover and Mary L. (Puckett) Hoover. He grew up in Elkhart, Indiana and was highly influenced by his Aunt Evelyn and Grandma Hoover. Mike attended Concord Community schools, graduating from Concord High School in 1975.
He married his high school sweetheart, Dawn K. Erikson, on June 11, 1977 at Simpson United Methodist Church. They shared 49 years of marriage filled with laughter and lasting memories.
A skilled businessman and entrepreneur, Mike began his professional career in sales with Thom McAn shoes during high school and later worked for Levy’s Furniture. In 1984 he became co-owner and president of KIB Enterprises, an electronics company specializing in circuit board design and production for a variety of industries. Mike also held leadership roles at other manufacturing and payroll businesses in northern Indiana.
Mike enjoyed supporting charities throughout his life, including Food for the Poor, Cross International, and The Elkhart Humane Society. He loved golfing with friends - especially his regular Tuesday night buddies, time in Florida, and cheering on Notre Dame football and basketball teams. His greatest joy came from time spent with his immediate family, particularly his two grandsons. As a grandfather, he shared his wisdom, insights, and life lessons. His grandchildren will forever carry the memories of spending time with papa.
He is survived by wife Dawn, daughter Christy, son-in-law Bart, and grandsons Lucas and Jonathan. He had an extended family with whom he loved creating memories and spending time together. Mike was preceded in death by both of his parents.
