Patricia J. Casey

Patricia J. “Pat” Casey, 84, of Elkhart died Wednesday March 30, 2011 at Greenleaf Living Center, Elkhart after a 2 month illness.

She was born Feb. 9, 1927 in Elkhart to Herman and Mary (Redding) Kessler and married Rex Casey who preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Tom Casey of Elkhart, a daughter, Sue Lamb of Cassopolis, MI, 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a sister, Marjorie Horvath of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Jacqueline Jean Casey and a sister, Mildred Boardman.

Pat graduated from Elkhart High School in 1945 and retired from the Social Security Office after 35 years of service. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and volunteered with Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary. She delivered library books to nursing home residents and was a huge Notre Dame sports fan. She also enjoyed watching American Idol.

Family and friends may call from 11 am to 1 pm Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart where a memorial service will be at 1 pm Friday. Reverend Brian Cray will officiate. Burial will take place at Rice Cemetery at a later date.
