Paul Michael Vassar

Paul “Mike” Vassar, 68, of Elkhart, IN., shed his earthly bonds to soar with the stars on Monday August 25, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 9, 1956 in Lima, OH to Paul B. and Esther S. Vassar. He married Jama on September 21, 2013 at Adams Lake Pub in Wolcottville, IN.

After high school, Paul honorably served in the United States Navy. He graduated from Ohio State University with a master’s degree in fine arts. He had an eye for great details and enjoyed detailed carpentry work. Paul was a self-employed freelance artist, and he lived to socialize with people, he never met a stranger. He enjoyed football, especially when he was cheering on his favorite team, the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State University football teams.

Surviving Paul are his wife Jama, daughter Jessica (Eric) Vassar Lutton of Reynoldsburg, OH, Jarrod (Jen) Luttrell of Mishawaka, IN; grandchildren, Caleb, Iris, Gabriel, Eden, Aurora, William and Gage; siblings, Michelle Foster of Columbus, OH, Mark (Cheri) Vassar of Lima, OH, and Craig (Rebecca) Vassar of Toledo, OH. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kyle Luttrell, siblings, Sherry Vassar, Steve Vassar and Eric Vassar.

A Celebration of Life for Paul will be from 4 to 6pm Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514 where full military honors will be at 6pm.
