Reginald “Bud” Richmond, 92 of Elkhart, IN passed away at his son, Bill’s home with family by his side on Monday, September 2, 2024. Bud was born on March 1, 1932 to Fred and Vera Richmond in Elkhart, IN.
Bud graduated from Elkhart High School, class of 1950. In 1951 at age 19, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, where he met Ursula Prinz in Wiesbaden, Germany. While stationed in Germany they married in October 1955, Ursula preceded him in death on January 16, 2006. On October 19, 2008 he married Millie Peterson in Fort Lauderdale, FL and they celebrated on a cruise through the Caribbean Seas, She preceded him in death on December 25, 2023. Bud retired from Speed-Grip Chuck in 1999, after 44 years of dedicated service. He was a “Red Coat” volunteer for many years at Elkhart General Hospital. From there he spent some days helping at the Riverview Adult Day Center. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether gardening, golfing or just a nice walk. He was definitely a great dancer. He loved to spend time with friends and family, especially his family.
Bud is survived by children, Mike (Louise) Richmond of Mason, OH., Bill (Mary Corl) Richmond of Elkhart, IN,, Heidi (Jeff) Payne of Louisville, KY., Steve (Luanne) Peterson of Ft. Myers, FL., Cathy (Ron) Blanchard of Cody, WY., and Mike (Dawn) Peterson of Bristol, IN; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, which he loved dearly. Bud was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Vera Richmond; wives, Ursula Richmond and Millie Richmond; and siblings Betty Harris, Chet Richmond, Hank Richmond, and Kenny Richmond.
Visitation will be from 10am- 12pm on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be held at 12 pm with military honors. Bud will be laid to rest next to the mother of his children Ursula at Five Points Cemetery in Edwardsburg, MI.
