Rick Minix, 64, of Edwardsburg, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Rick was born on October 23, 1953 in Elkhart, Indiana, to C. Ray and Mary (Bigelow) Minix. On October 23, 1971, he married Paulette (Darrah) Minix of Edwardsburg, his beloved high school sweetheart of 46 years. She survives along with their three children, Chris Minix of Elkhart, Brandy (Lamar) Chupp of Bristol and Cory (Joy) Minix of Elkhart. Rick is survived by his parents, nine grandchildren (Deonna, Madison, Dacia, Maddie, Alexa, Chase, Reese, Carter and Chloe); five siblings, Linda (Jim) Sellers of Goshen, Valerie Minix of Elkhart, Terry (Sandy) Minix of Bristol, Larry (Susan) Minix of Lake Worth, Florida, Gene (Betsy) Minix of Boynton Beach, Florida and 21 Nieces and Nephews.

Rick graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1971 and following several years in Florida, he returned to his hometown of Elkhart to pursue a 40-year career in the fastener industry, starting with Fastec Industrial Corporation as a Product Development Manager. He was currently employed for several years as the Manager of Product and Business Development for Global Link of Elkhart.

He was an inspiration to all, as he courageously battled a rare and aggressive form of sarcoma cancer. Rick was dedicated to his family, faith, and had many passions. He was an avid boater, fisherman, hunter, metal-detector and gardening enthusiast, and enjoyed watching Cubs games with his Father. Rick was also a very talented guitarist and singer, performing for decades at local events in Michiana, with a large fan following. Rick was well known for performing with the Nite Shift and The Edge bands, as their lead singer and he believed strongly in giving back to help others in need. In recent years, his band performed to raise funds for local cancer charities, including the Leprechaun Leap Cancer Benefit at Simonton Lake.
