Robert L. McClane

Robert “Bob” Lewis McClane, 86, of Fish Lake, Shipshewana, formerly of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday June 4, 2024 at Goshen Hospital. Bob was born on October 10, 1937 to Clarence Albert and Rose Ann McClane in Elkhart, IN   He married Jean Carol Spesshardt on August 31, 1957 at First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Elkhart. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2019.

Bob graduated from Elkhart High School, class of 1956. Bob was a realtor/broker for ReMax real estate. He owned and operated Buyer’s Choice real estate. Bob began his career as an architect for Henry Weiss Homes, he also was an architect and salesman for Cupples Products. Bob was a past-president and served on the Elkhart County Board of Realtors, the class of 1956 reunion board and the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Board. Bob enjoyed morel mushroom hunting and spending time on his boat on Fish Lake. In his spare time, he enjoyed making wine for his favorite lady, his wife Jean Carol until her passing. Bob enjoyed watching the birds, especially the martins. Bob was an avid supporter of Northridge High School cross country, where his son Ryan is the coach.  When he wasn’t on the lake he enjoyed running, most of all he loved to spend time with his family.

Bob is survived by his children, Kelly Jean McClane of Bristol, Kimberly Kay (Jeff) Dahlman of Goshen, Robert Patrick (Angie) McClane of Shipshewana and Ryan Lewis (Alissa) McClane of Goshen; grandchildren, Nicole Klotz, Donny Klotz III, Dustin Robert Klotz, Rylee Jean Dahlman, Jaden Nicole McClane, Brielle Della Rose McClane, Ayla McClane, Andyn McClane, Mackenzie Swoape, Mattie Carlisle and Lain Carlisle; great-grandchildren, Fynley, Madden Jean and Thomson. As well as his siblings; Phil (Leah) McClane, Jerry (Cindy) McClane and Patricia Daub. Bob was preceded in death by his siblings Clarence “Clancy” (Elaine) McClane and Floyd (Trudy) McClane and his brother-in-law Charles Daub.

Friends may visit with family from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Sunday June 9, 2024 at Stemm- Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN. Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Monday June 10, 2024 at Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 County Road 18, Goshen, IN with visitation one hour prior to services. Pastor John Hogsett will officiate. Interment will follow at Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.
