Robert Van Acker

Robert "Race" John Van Acker, age 71, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 at IU University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

Race was born on February 26, 1955 to Gaston Edward Van Acker and Blondia Van Acker in Mishawaka, IN. On December 23, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was united in marriage to Anna "Owl" Van Acker who preceded him in death.

Race is survived by his siblings Chuck Van Acker, Patricia Diedrich, his significant other Krissy Zuber, sister-in-law Michelle (Robin) Sailor. Race was preceded in death by his parents Gaston and Blondia, wife Owl and brother Edward Van Acker.

Race worked as an engineer at Honeywell and was a member of Devil Diciples. He enjoyed building motorcycles and racing Sprint cars as well as racing. Race will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

A celebration of Race's life will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at VFW Post#360, 1307 East Jefferson Blvd, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone is assisting Race's family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the funeral home.
