Roger "Bruce" Vanhorn

Roger “Bruce” Vanhorn, 78, of Goshen, IN passed away on Tuesday August 13, 2024 at the Center for Hospice Care, Esther’s House, in Elkhart, IN., with his family by his side. Bruce was born on May 8, 1946 to Delmer and Lovina Vanhorn in Decatur, IN. He married Karen Godwin Tevis on November 22, 1986 in Goshen, IN.

Bruce is survived by his wife Karen Godwin Tevis of Goshen, IN; their son Andrew Vanhorn of Goshen, IN; siblings Harold Vanhorn of Pleasant Mills, IN., Kenneth Vanhorn of Decatur, IN., and Richard (Kathy) Vanhorn of Texas and his sister-in-law Dorothy Vanhorn of Decatur, IN. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Marilyn Wideman, and David Vanhorn.

Bruce graduated from Cromwell High School, class of 1965. Earlier in his life he worked for Pepsi Co, before working for Syracuse Rubber CO, now Parker Hannifan in Syracuse, IN. Bruce enjoyed planting a wonder vegetable garden in the spring and harvesting the crops in the fall, where he enjoyed the canned goods all winter long. In his youth he enjoyed camping at the state parks with his family. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the birds at his bird feeders. Most of all Bruce loved visiting with friends for coffee and spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed.

 Visitation will be on Saturday August 17, 2024 from 10am - 12pm at Goshen First Brethren Church, 215 West Clinton Street, Goshen, IN 46526 where a memorial service will be held at 12pm. Pastor Austin Kaufman will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to his wife to help with funeral expenses.
