Ross Elmer Smith

Ross Elmer Smith, age 70 of Elkhart, IN passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Elkhart General Hospital. Ross was born on August 17, 1955 to Frances and John Smith in Elkhart, IN.

Ross graduated from Concord High School, class of 1973 and he earned his BA degree from Indiana University in 1977. He retired from Du-Mor Water where her worked in sales for over 27 years. He was a member of Fairview Grange from 1969 until the present where he served in various roles. Indiana State Grange 1970 where he served as past-president as well as various roles. Ross enjoyed traveling with his family, he would often take the more scenic route to enjoy stopping at historical sites with his grandchildren. He enjoyed cruising where her would see more distant parts of the world. He loved playing card games and board games with his grandchildren and with poker with his friends. Ross will be sadly missed.

Ross is survived by his children, Jason Smith of Nappanee, IN and Erin (Angela) Smith of Lakeville, IN; the mother of his children Paula Gluck; his grandchildren Raice Martin, Taylor Smith, Morgana Smith, Bailey Smith, David Smith, Logan Smith, Jason Reed, Trinity Wise and Hannah McKinney; great-grandchildren Sofia Smith, Zoey Smith and Maverick Martin; his siblings, Ronald (Becky) Smith of Corydon, IN and Heidi (Dave) Sampson of Arizona.

A celebration of Ross’s life will from 4-8 pm on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Fairview Grange, 22482 CR 45, Goshen, IN 46528. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Fairview Grange.
