Sandra K. Koehler

Sandra K. Koehler, 78, of Ft. Wayne, IN formerly of Elkhart, went home peacefully to her Lord & Savior Friday March 6, 2026, at Park Place Senior Living, Ft. Wayne, IN. She was born August 20, 1947, in South Bend, IN to Herbert and Mary “Rose” White.

Sandy graduated from South Bend Washington High School in 1965 and then Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at South Bend Memorial Hospital and met Michael Koehler through the South Bend Ski Club. On November 8, 1975, they married. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2017, after 41 years of marriage.

Sandy and Mike moved to Elkhart, IN into their new home starting their life together and her position at the Bayer Corporation, formally know as Miles. She spent 22 years as a Data Analyst and completed her bachelor’s degree in health sciences from Western Michigan University. She transitioned back into the hospital setting to finish her career as a Registered Nurse at Elkhart General Hospital for 10 years and then as an Infection Controller at Goshen Hospital for 8 years before retiring.

Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dog mom. Some of her favorite things included: reading mystery novels, watching television game shows and dramas, crocheting, gardening, traveling and relaxing by the pool. She was strong in her faith and a member of Faith United Methodist Church before moving to Ft. Wayne. She truly enjoyed being with her church family.

Surviving are her daughter Michelle (Matthew) Kreager of Oak Harbor, Ohio and her son Christopher (Katrina) Koehler of Auburn, IN., a granddaughter, Elsie Kreager, a grandson, Philip Kreager and a brother John (Beth) White of Naples, FL., a brother-in-law Bradley Koehler of Goshen, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Michael.

Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm on Friday March 13, 2026, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be at 1pm with Pastor Keith McFarren of Bethel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
