Sandra Kay Shaffer

Sandra Kay Shaffer, 73 of Bristol, passed away at 12:10 am Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at the Elkhart Hospice House.

She was born May 2, 1944 in Elkhart to George E. and Gladys (Brandon) Brooks. On August 4, 1972 she married Merle Jack Shaffer. Surviving are 4 step-children; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Boyland of California; a brother in law, Jay (Linda) Shaffer of Elkhart and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack on Nov. 12, 2010, her parents, 5 siblings, Betty Jean Lester, Joyce Wait, Patricia Simpson, Irene Bontrager and George “Bud” Brooks and a step-daughter.

Sandra graduated from Penn High School in 1962 and worked her entire career at C.T.S. Corporation. She also helped her husband Jack on the family dairy farm when needed.

She attended McCoy Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed four wheeling, shopping and getting together with family and friends. She loved her kitty cats most of all.

Family and friends may visit from 4-6 pm Thursday, Nov. 30th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where a funeral service will begin at 6 pm. Pastor Christopher Kocher will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Jack at Zion Cemetery, Bristol at 11 am Friday.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice Care or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
