Sharon K. Burch-Smorin

b. June 11, 1952

Sharon K. Smorin, 72 of Granger, IN passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She fought long and hard with her battle against ovarian cancer.

In her younger years Sharon cleaned houses for clients she maintained for many years, becoming like family to her she cherished those relationships. Sharon is the heart of her family, and this is a very difficult time for all her family and friends as they learn how to live without her.

Sharon will be remembered for her beautiful smile, always making sure she had her red lipstick on. She will be especially remembered for her love and generosity. Sharon had a special knack for always managing to find all the hidden treasures at Goodwill and most of the time she would gift them to others. She was known for always sending out cards to family and friends, she never missed a special occasion, especially birthdays. Even in her last days when her health was failing, she would have her husband, Andy, send out that special message. Sharon is such a beautiful soul, “Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of Beautiful Memories”. Sharon loved to spend time with her family, especially going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, and the events of her great-nieces and great-nephews. Spending time with her children and grandchildren at their lake homes, or simply having everyone over for a pool party, where she made her famous deviled eggs and chocolate covered chow mein noodles. She will be sadly missed.

Sharon had a way of putting others first and had genuine empathy for those around her. Even during her own battle with cancer and the hardship with treatments, she still found time to volunteer at Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit.

Sharon had a love for Christ and strong faith, she truly believed in the power of prayer and was carried by so many prayers. She carried her cross with faith and strength, putting aside her desires and trusting in God’s plan for her.

Sharon is survived by her husband of over 36 years, Andy Smorin, who cared for her with such dedication and love until her passing. She is survived by her son, Chad (Maria) Burch, their children Savannah (Anthony) Ramirez, Izabella and Emellia; their grandson Grayson; her daughter, Amy (Jeremy) Ditsch, their children, Kayli, Kingston, Livya, Bradig and Cayden; her loving mother Mary Malicki; siblings, Diana (Dan) Triest, Greg (Judy) Prawat, Debbie (Kent) Osborn, Joseph (Kim) Malicki, Linda Malicki, Robbie (Mindy) Evans, Jennifer Prawat, Lori Wright, step-moms Gloria Prawat and Kathleen Mahoney, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Ralph Prawat, brother Jason Evans, nephew Christopher Triest and her first husband, and the father to her children, Kerry Burch.

Sharon loved her family and friends dearly. Let us all continue to pray for her soul and rejoice at the thought of her in heaven in the house Our Father built.
