Shirley Ann Sass

Shirley Ann Sass, age 93 of Bristol, IN passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026 at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. Shirley was born on February 7, 1933 to Forest and Mildred Hughes. She married Herbie “Howie” Sass on August 12, 1983 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he preceded her in death on November 27, 2016.

Shirley was a retired truck dispatcher. She enjoyed making arts and crafts, basket weaving, painting, ceramics, anything to do with making beautiful things to share Shirley truly enjoyed making it. Shirley enjoyed cooking wonderful meals for her family, from her endless collection of family cookbooks. Shirley loved animals and enjoyed watching the squirrels and birds that came to her home. Most of all Shirley loved to spend time with her family. She will be sadly missed.

Shirley is survived by her children Kevin (Sue) Call of Elkhart, IN., Todd (Tammy) Call of Plymouth, IN and Lisa (Dawn) Call of Bellview, FL; grandchildren Chad (Heather) Call, Corey Call, Ashlee (Chris) Trensey, Adam (Kristen) Simons; great-grandchildren Molly Call, Jensen Trensey, Violet Simons and Kennedy Simmons and her cousin Melissa Cooper.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Thursday, November 12, 2026 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514.
