Betty Elkins

Betty Elkins, age 94, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday Aug. 29, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Mishawaka. Betty was born in 1927 in Elkhart to Edwin and Lola Myers. On Dec. 11, 1944 in Elkhart, she married Charles “Ray” Elkins who preceded her in death on November 3, 2005.

Betty graduated from Elkhart High School, Class of 1944. She retired in 1986 as a press operator for Taylor Products after 20 years. She attended Granger Community Church.

Surviving are her daughters: Carolyn (Skip) King of Elkhart and Mary (Mike) Bartkowiak of Mishawaka; 4 grandchildren, 11great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and her son-in-law Mike McGuire of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, brother George W. Myers, sisters Margaret Hudson and Elsie Bellaire and her daughter Lola M. McGuire.

Funeral services will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514 where friends may visit from 4-6pm.  Pastor John Keim will officiate. Burial will be at 9 am on Thursday, September 2, 2021 Prairie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to ALS Foundation at www.als.org.
