Dennis Paul Berg
February 21, 1946 ~ January 24, 2024 (age 77) 77 Years Old
Dennis Paul Berg, 77 of Elkhart, IN passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday January 24, 2024. Dennis was born on February 21, 1946 in Cleveland, OH to Clarence and Mae Berg. He married Kathleen J. McClure on November 25, 1972 at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Bend, IN.
Dennis graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, IN where he earned his degree in Engineering. He worked for over 43 years as a civil engineer for INDOT. He was a project engineer for Capital Avenue and didn’t retire until this project was completed. He loved to fix things and he would say, “if I can’t fix it, it ain’t broken.” He was an amateur HAM radio operator KF9PY and received his license after he learned Morse Code. Dennis was a member of the Michiana Corvette Club. He loved to travel in his corvette with his wife in tow. A different corvette meant a different place to visit. Dennis and Kathy drove to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Albuquerque Balloon Festival, and even driving to the top of Pikes Peak, just to mention a few adventures. But driving to Key West was his favorite place.
Dennis is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Kathleen Berg; their children Cindy Berg and Jennifer (Gary) Ray; grandsons Brent and Owen Ray all of Elkhart, IN. Dennis was preceded by his parents Clarence and Mae Berg and his mom who raised him, Bernice Berg.
Visitation will be from 10am -12pm on Monday January 29, 2024 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson funeral Home. 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be held at 12 pm.
